Apples

Varieties grown include:

1) Eaters/desserts - Cox, Queen cox,
Egremont Russet, Gala, Jonagold.
2) Cooking - Bramley, Howgate Wonder.

Details of the apple orchards:

The Gala are separated into 2 orchards one 4 acre, one 2 acre. They are mixed with Russet
pollinators. They total 700 trees.

The Queen Cox is in one 3 acre piece and have Gala pollinators. Due to the general polpularity we are expanding these orchards.

The Cox is split into one 2 acre and one 1 acre orchards, both have Russett pollinators, with a few Discovery. There is approximately 300 trees.

There is a one acre Jonagold orchard comprising 480 trees, of which 320 are Jonagold and 160 are
Russett pollinators

The Bramley orchards are 2 seperate acres and both are pollinated by Howgate Wonders. There
are a total of 75 standard Bramley trees and 75 Howgate.

The Bramley and Howgates are over 20 years old. The Cox and Russett orchards are over 15 years,
and the Gala and Jonagold orchards are 8 years.

The apples come into season at the end of August and finish with the Jonagold in late October.

On a personal note, we are very surprised to find a lack of market for Howgate. This apple, unlike
Bramley, holds its shape when cooked. They are so sweet naturally that they need little or no
added sugar.
